In the winter of my sophomore year, I took a class with Susannah Ottaway and Austin Mason on workhouses in England and various digital tools for public facing history. The class was also held in partnership with the Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse museum, who were were creating materials for. In this class we explored using twine to creating interactive narratives to get to know someone who might have passed through a workhouse’s doors. The narrative we created was fictional, but based on real people. We also explored SketchUp and Unity as ways to model and populate a Gressenhall model, as well as Darwin games as a way to provide interactive material for Gressenhall’s patrons.
